Our beautiful daughter, beloved sister, friend, and light of inspiration, Dawna Leigh
Boucher, born on June 14, 1984, returned to heaven on September 12,2006. We know
that she is singing with the angel choir now and that all who hear her sweet voice are charmed by it.
Dawna, born and raised in Las Cruces, NM, lived in our home at 5 19 McClure Road for
her first 14 years. She attended various day care centers and then Alameda Elementary
School and Picacho Junior High School. She was very active in singing groups,
Community Theater, NMSU Theater, and played the string bass during her three years of
junior high school. She also enjoyed her five years of Suzuki piano lessons. She was a
part of the Gifted Program in school and served on the Mayor's Youth Advisory Board, as well.
In 1998, we relocated to San Jose, where she spent her high school years. Always
marching to a different drummer, Dawna passed the California High School Proficiency
Exam, which would allow her to by-pass high school and enter college. She attended
West Valley Community College, where she again enjoyed singing with the choral group.
She also took a guitar course and was soon accompanying herself as she sang folk, rock,
or blues numbers. Those who had the opportunity to meet Dawna found her to be both the
most generous person in time and effort, giving richly of inspiration to anyone who would listen,
giving of comfort and encouragement to the downcast, and contagiously infected others by her
enthusiasm for life. Even though we will miss her we are comforted by knowing that she
will live on, and her light will shine, because she is unforgettable!
Dawna is survived by her parents, Larry and Marijean Boucher, her sister Patty, her
brother Jeff, her grandmother Mary "Mema" Boucher, her aunt Terri Sue, and many
cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Living Memorial Service will be held in San Jose, CA at Saint Julie Billiard at 9:30
